On Hoplr, each neighborhood member chooses their own language for communication, enriching the diversity. However, the language choice can affect the response; less common languages or different writing systems may lead to fewer reactions. It is a personal choice to use a preferred language or a more commonly used language for broader interaction.
Language Choice and Neighborhood Diversity
The language used for communication on Hoplr is a free and personal choice of each neighborhood member. We respect the autonomy of our users and therefore do not influence the language choice of neighborhood members. A lively, mixed neighborhood naturally brings together a rich variety of languages and perspectives on the platform, which we consider an enrichment.
Effect on Communication
However, keep in mind that your language choice can affect the level of response from the neighborhood. When you communicate in a language understood by very few neighborhood residents, or that uses a different writing system, the chance is high that the response from the neighborhood will be limited.
It is therefore a personal decision whether to use your preferred language, or to choose a more common language (or official language) within the neighborhood, or an international language such as English to ensure a broader reach and more responses.
