Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an additional layer of security that requires a second proof of identity alongside your password, such as a code from an authentication app. On Hoplr, you log in with your email address and password, after which you enter a temporary code from the authentication app. This measure cannot be disabled for security reasons.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-factor authentication (MFA), or two-factor authentication (2FA), is an extra layer of security for your account. It requires that you provide a second proof of identity in addition to your password.
This usually works by combining two of the following three factors:
- Something you know (your password).
- Something you have (a physical phone or an authentication app).
- Something you are (a fingerprint or face scan).
MFA ensures that even if a malicious person knows your password, they cannot access your account without the unique, temporary code from your linked device.
Step-by-step: Logging in with your Multi-factor Authentication code
Once you have activated two-factor authentication, it is permanently enabled to ensure the security of your Hoplr account. Follow these steps to log in:
1. Enter your basic details
- Log in to your Hoplr account with your email address and password.
- After submitting these details, a window will appear where you can enter the two-factor authentication code.
2. Retrieve the verification code
- Open the authentication app on your smartphone or device.
- (This is the app you chose during the initial activation of the 2FA security, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or a similar app.)
- Find the unique, temporary code linked to your Hoplr account in the app.
3. Complete the sign-in
- Enter the verification code from the authentication app into the window on the Hoplr login screen.
- You are now successfully and securely logged in to your account.
Note: For security reasons, we cannot disable this security measure. Always make sure you have access to the authentication app.
