Hoplr introduces the cross-neighbourhood feed to strengthen local connections by following posts from up to 10 surrounding neighbourhoods within 7 km. Posts remain local and sharing with other neighbourhoods is optional, maintaining privacy. This encourages collaboration and engagement without compromising safety.
At Hoplr, the strengthening of local connections within your specific neighbourhood is central. The introduction of the cross-neighbourhood feed aims to deepen these connections further, not weaken them. Below we explain how this feature works.
With this feature, you can follow posts from up to 10 surrounding neighbourhoods within a radius of 7 km from your own neighbourhood. This extension allows you to stay informed about activities in nearby neighbourhoods, without jeopardising the privacy and exclusivity of your own neighbourhood.
How exactly does the cross-neighbourhood feed work?
- Your posts remain local: You mainly post in your own neighbourhood. The optional sharing with surrounding neighbourhoods is a choice you make yourself.
- Targeted classifieds and activities: For classifieds and activities, a distance filter is built in. This promotes connection, sharing economy, and more conscious living in your immediate environment. You can of course still choose to share your classified or activity only with your own neighbourhood by unchecking the 'Visibility' box when creating it.
- Visibility to other neighbourhood members: Other neighbourhood members can only see your post if they consciously follow your neighbourhood and you have chosen to share the post with surrounding neighbourhoods.
- Privacy of your neighbours list: Your neighbours list remains limited to your own neighbourhood. From members of surrounding neighbourhoods, you only see their name, profile photo, neighbourhood, and municipality, but no street name.
- Posts from authorities or partners: These posts are only visible to members of the neighbourhood itself and not to followers of that neighbourhood.
The intention of the cross-neighbourhood feed is to broaden local engagement without compromising privacy or safety. Especially in urban areas where neighbourhoods are closer together, this extension can be valuable for collaboration and mutual assistance.
Hoplr continues to commit to strengthening real connections — neighbours who know, help, and trust each other.
