Hoplr introduces the cross-neighborhood feed to strengthen local connections by following posts from up to 10 surrounding neighborhoods within 7 km. Posts remain local, and sharing with other neighborhoods is optional, preserving privacy. This promotes collaboration and engagement without compromising safety.
At Hoplr, the strengthening of local connections within your specific neighborhood is central. The introduction of the cross-neighborhood feed aims to deepen these connections, not weaken them. Below we explain how this feature works.
This feature allows you to follow posts from up to 10 surrounding neighborhoods within a 7 km radius of your own neighborhood. This expansion enables you to stay informed about activities in nearby neighborhoods without putting the privacy and exclusivity of your own neighborhood at risk.
How Does the Cross-Neighborhood Feed Work Exactly?
- Your posts remain local: You primarily post in your own neighborhood. The optional sharing with surrounding neighborhoods is a choice you make yourself.
- Targeted classifieds and activities: For classifieds and activities, a distance filter is built in. This promotes connection, sharing economy, and more conscious living in your immediate environment. Of course, you can still choose to share your classified or activity exclusively with your own neighborhood by unchecking the 'Visibility' box when creating it.
- Visibility to other neighborhood members: Other neighborhood members can only see your post if they consciously follow your neighborhood and you have chosen to share the post with surrounding neighborhoods.
- Privacy of your neighbor list: Your neighbor list remains limited to your own neighborhood. For members from surrounding neighborhoods, you only see their name, profile photo, neighborhood, and municipality, but no street name.
- Posts from authorities or partners: These posts are only visible to members of the neighborhood itself and not to followers of that neighborhood.
The intention of the cross-neighborhood feed is the expansion of local engagement without compromising privacy or safety. Especially in urban areas where neighborhoods are closer together, this expansion can be valuable for collaboration and mutual assistance.
Hoplr remains committed to strengthening real connections — neighbors who know, help, and trust each other.
