How do I search using the neighborhood filter?

The Neighborhood Filter on Hoplr helps users find posts, neighbors, external organizations, shared documents, and local businesses within their neighborhood. Users can search via the website or app by entering terms and selecting categories like posts, neighbors, or organizations. Search results show from most to least recent. For specific offerings, posting a neighborhood message or help request is recommended.

What is the Neighborhood Filter for?

The neighborhood filter is your tool to find information specifically within your Hoplr neighborhood. You can use the filter to search for:

  • Neighborhood posts (including help requests and activities)
  • Hoplr neighbors (to get in touch)
  • External organizations (such as local governments or partners)
  • Shared documents
  • Organizations, associations, or local businesses in the Local Directory

You can enter search terms, browse lists, or filter neighborhood posts using categories.

Helpful Search Tips

  • How results appear: The system searches for your term in the titles and text of existing posts. Results appear from most to least recent.

  • Need inspiration? If you are looking for inspiration for a post, or just want to see what has been shared, leave the search field empty and select only a category (for example, 'Help request'). The feed will then be filtered to show only those posts.

  • When the filter is less suitable: The filter is useful for searching specific posts. However, if you are looking for an offering in the neighborhood, such as a babysitter or a service, it is better to post your own neighborhood post or help request with your question.
