Several initiatives to connect neighbours exist, both online and offline. This is a good thing and indicates a need and desire for local community cohesion.
As we cannot speak for other platforms, we would like to list what makes Hoplr so special.
- Hoplr is the first social network (that we know of) completely free of advertising.
- Hoplr is European, which means that we have to be conform to European GDPR.
- Hoplr works together with local governments and public services, which means that it helps you stay informed of important notifications from your area (road works, for instance) and allows you to take part in civic engagement opportunities. By the way, this collaboration forms Hoplr's revenue model without infringing on your privacy. These parties do not have access to your profile and messages in your area.
